THREEPENNY MOON is a cabaret duo based in the Blue Mountains and comprising singer-songwriter Jocelyn Moen on vocals, guitar, ukulele, piano and bodhran, and Renaissance guy Martin Dawes on vocals, piano, fiddle, trumpet, and sousaphone.

Juggling instruments and languages, Jocelyn and Martin perform a wide range of Joce Moen originals, French and Cajun chansons, a cappella harmonies, and covers from Kurt Weill and Francis Cabrel to Jeanne Moreau and Dolly Parton. Their versatility and wit, not to mention their wigs, make for a night out as quirkily exotic as it is mightily entertaining.

They launched DEBUT ALBUM Threepenny Moon (surprise!) in 2019 to a full house at Katoomba hotspot Junction 142. The album features half a dozen originals, standards such as Summertime and Speak Low, plus a couple of Cajun chansons and a shanty on the side.

Jocelyn Moen studied composition and voice at Sydney Uni and recorded her first album, La Rouge Qui Bouge, in Paris. She has gigged in Paris, Berlin, Montreal, and around the Blue Mountains. Jocelyn launched her second album Spirit Level  at Sydney's jazz hotspot Foundry616, and directs two choirs, Daylight and Voila! Blue Mountains French Choir.

Martin Dawes studied tuba and voice at UBC before earning a PhD in English from McGill Uni. Formerly of the Canadian Armed Forces Reserve band and a cappella vocal quartet The Mixmasters, Martin takes his McLeod blood as a license to call his violin a fiddle. He has recently added the trumpet to his instrumental arsenal because, well, a solid bass line isn't everything.

"Blessed with a wonderful sense of style and expression, Martin is one of the most gifted musicians I have ever had the pleasure to work with" - Dennis Miller, Principal Tuba (ret.), Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal
